White Lake 2009 : Here are a few shots from our time in White Lake with Grandma Lyn. The boys spent most of the time in a canoe searching for frogs and turtles, and Scott's dog was another big hit. No pics of the awesome fireworks since I spent that whole time walking Kaylie around trying to calm her down.

Storm Damage at the Farm : After the floods subsided, and we fixed the fences where the trees and boulders swept through the valley, the wind storm blasted through Liberty Pole, wiping out the crops on many of the Solverson family fields and taking out scores of huge cherry, oak and pine trees. Pictures don't even give you a glimpse of what is was like right after the wind. To stand and look at an entire hill of trees just twisted together, sheared off and flat on the ground where the homestead used to be made you feel sad to the core inside. We were so thankful that no one was injured, and the cattle were OK, but it has taken over a month of daily bobcat and chainsaw work by Steve and Sharon to get things to a point where it is safer to walk through these areas. There are still scores of trees dangling in the woods and it seems each time the wind blows, another cherry tree falls on a fence, and back out they go to make more repairs and cut up more wood. It looks like the disaster has produced a blessing in way, in that they are going to be able to use the cherry, pine, walnut and maple in all different parts of the home they are building on the farm right now. The work is no where near done, and the farm will never quite be the same, but they just take one day at a time.
